Our raised garden beds and planter boxes with a 1.6 m timber frame built in, shipped anywhere in Australia.
Pick the Wide (157 x 110 cm, two tubs side by side) or the Large (157 x 60 cm, one full-length tub), at 80 cm planting height (a waist-high raised garden bed) or 50 cm (a knee-high planter box). On every one, all four legs run up in one piece to a timber top rail 1.6 m off the ground. That leaves about 80 cm of clear headroom above an 80 cm bed and about 110 cm above a 50 cm planter box. On the Wide, a centre rail runs down the middle of the top so a net stays up off your plants and strings have an anchor over both tubs.
It comes as the frame, with nothing on it, so you only pay for the cover you want. Because it is all timber, staples, screws, hooks, sail track and zip ties work anywhere on it. A covered raised garden bed, done your way.
What can I use the frame for?
- Throw a net over it to keep birds and bats off your crop
- Staple fly screen or insect mesh to the sides
- Screw wire mesh panels into the bays
- Shade cloth for the summer heat
- Greenhouse film or frost cloth when it turns cold
- String-train tomatoes and cucumbers from the top rails
- Run wires or twine between the rails for beans and peas
- Fix reo panels to the sides and let the climbers cover it
- Hang pots and strawberry baskets from the top rail, right at picking height
- Run your drip line or misters along the top
Will a standard roll of mesh or cloth fit?
Yes, a standard roll fits. Each side is one flat face: the top rail and the board sit flush, framed by the legs. Run the roll along the side with its top edge level with the top of the rail. The long sides are 1320 mm between the legs, and the ends are 1100 mm on the Wide and 598 mm on the Large. The roll you need depends on the planting height:
- 80 cm raised garden bed: a 900 mm roll covers the 700 mm opening, with 100 mm on the rail and 100 mm on the board.
- 50 cm planter box: a 1200 mm roll covers the 1000 mm opening the same way.
Either way there is solid timber to fix into at the top and the bottom, and an 1800 x 1200 mm reo sheet cuts down to fit a side.
How much room is there for plants to grow?
The top rail is 1.6 m off the ground on every size, so there is about 80 cm from the top of an 80 cm raised garden bed to the rail, and about 110 cm above a 50 cm planter box. The planter box gives taller crops the most room, and climbers can keep going up the sides and along the top.
What net should I use?
A wildlife-safe one: white, knitted, with holes 5 mm or smaller when stretched. It keeps birds and bats off your fruit without trapping them. It is the rule in Victoria and good practice everywhere. To reach the top of the bed on every side, allow a net of at least about:
- Wide, 80 cm: 3.2 x 2.7 m
- Wide, 50 cm: 3.8 x 3.3 m
- Large, 80 cm: 3.2 x 2.2 m
- Large, 50 cm: 3.8 x 2.8 m
Go bigger if you would like some to tuck under. Keeping possums out takes wire mesh fixed to every side and the top rather than a net, and the frame is built to take it.
What do I get?
Wide: arrives in pre-drilled parts. The side and end panels come built, and you screw the end panels to the legs.
- Two long side panels, already built
- Two end panels, already built and held square, with their dampcourse stapled on, and the four legs of the 1.6 m high frame, each with the planting height marked on it, for you to screw them to
- The rest of the bed's rails
- Two recycled plastic tubs and dampcourse
- The frame, packed loose: three 1520 mm top rails (two sides and the centre) and two 1100 mm top end rails
- A screw pack with every bolt and screw, including 8 x 65 mm and 12 x 75 mm batten screws for the frame
- The tools to put it together
You'll also need a drill and two clamps for the Wide. Every screw hole in our pieces is already drilled. Drilling a small pilot hole where each screw goes into the legs and the frame is optional, but it helps keep the frame lined up. Use the clamps to hold each piece in place while you drill and screw it.
Large: arrives with the end frames already built.
- Two end frames, already built with the 1.6 m legs fitted, plus the side panels
- The recycled plastic tub and dampcourse
- The frame, packed loose: two 1520 mm top side rails and two 600 mm top end rails
- A screw pack with every bolt and screw, including 8 x 65 mm and 8 x 75 mm batten screws for the frame
- The tools to put it together
Can I put it on wheels?
Yes, on every Large and on the Wide with the 23 cm tub. Pick With wheels above and it comes on four heavy-duty 100 mm castors: two fixed at one end and two swivelling with brakes at the other, fitted so the wheels roll along the length of the bed. The legs are cut shorter to allow for the castors, so the frame is still 1.6 m tall and the planting height does not change. The castors and every screw for them come in the kit.
The one exception is the 50 cm Large with the 41 cm tub. That deep tub needs the full-length legs, so the wheels go underneath, the same as on our standard garden beds on wheels, and the whole bed sits about 13 cm higher: about 63 cm to the top of the bed and 1.73 m overall.
We do not put wheels on the Wide with the 35 or 41 cm tubs. Two deep tubs full of wet potting mix make it too heavy for a person to move safely.
How big is it?
Wide: 157 x 110 x 160 cm overall (length x width x height), with two tubs side by side. Large: 157 x 60 x 160 cm overall. On wheels, the 50 cm Large with the 41 cm tub is about 173 cm overall. Planting height 80 cm (waist high) or 50 cm (knee high), and a tub depth of 23, 35 or 41 cm.
What is it made from?
MicroPro MCA treated hoop pine, the same timber as every Corrogarden bed. Inside sits our recycled plastic tub (two on the Wide): potting mix goes straight in and you can plant the same day, while the tub keeps the moisture off the timber so it lasts for years.
How does it get to me?
We ship it Australia wide in cartons with our couriers.
How does it go together? The kit comes with a step by step guide and the tools you need. Download the Grow Frame assembly guide (PDF).

What do I fill it with?
Quality potting mix straight into the tub. No base layers or crushed rock needed. Full step-by-step: how to fill your raised garden bed.
How deep should your garden bed be?
23 cm is the budget pick, ideal for herbs, flowers, lettuce and other shallow-rooted plants (it dries out quickest, so it likes part shade or regular watering). 35 cm is the sweet spot most customers choose: it handles tomatoes, capsicums and most veggies while holding moisture well. 41 cm suits root veg like carrots and potatoes, plus potted citrus. It holds moisture best and is the heaviest when full.
Can I move it once it’s set up?
Empty, it’s an easy two-person lift. If you’ll want to chase the sun through the seasons, the wheels version rolls on braked castors: switch to it under “Choose a variation” above.
Will my deck or balcony get wet underneath?
The tub has drainage holes in the base, so water drains out underneath. On a deck or balcony, add the Drainage Capture kit: it channels overflow away or straight into a watering can.
Will the timber rot or attract termites?
It’s arsenic-free MCA treated hoop pine, built to resist both. If it’s going on grass or bare ground, we recommend a paver or our protective feet under each leg to break the moisture and termite highway. Full guide: Care & Maintenance.
How often will I need to water?
Shallower tubs (23 cm) dry out faster in full sun; 35–41 cm hold moisture longer. The drip watering kit with timer makes it set-and-forget.
How hard is the assembly?
Kits arrive around 80% pre-assembled. Most people are done in about 30 minutes with a power drill, and all fixings and tools are included. Step-by-step Assembly Guides are here, full details in Assembly & Tools below, and we’re happy to talk you through it on the phone any time.
