The Timber Advantage: Sustainable, Smart, and Customisable
One of the greatest benefits of a Corrogarden bed isn't just its natural beauty—it’s the incredible versatility of the timber itself. Built using locally sourced, sustainable Australian pine, your garden bed is designed to work in harmony with the environment, rather than against it.
Beyond aesthetics, timber is a phenomenal natural insulator. During the peak of an Australian summer, the thick timber edges stay cool to the touch, preventing the sun from baking your soil and protecting delicate root systems from heat stress. In the cooler months, it holds the warmth in. It also never rusts, degrades, or requires heavy maintenance, ensuring your garden space remains pristine year after year.
Most importantly, timber is the ultimate blank canvas. Because it is naturally workable yet incredibly robust, you don't need specialised tools or equipment to modify it. Just grab a standard drill, a few screws, and your imagination to expand your growing space or tailor the bed exactly to your needs.
Get Inspired: Creative Customer Ideas
We absolutely love seeing how creative our community gets with their setups! Because you can easily screw directly into the sturdy pine frame, the modification possibilities are endless. Over on our Gallery & Reviews page, we've seen customers transform their gardens with some brilliant DIY projects. Here are a few ideas to spark your creativity:
- Magical Garden Illusions: One of our absolute favourite customer projects involved securing outdoor-safe archway mirrors directly to the timber trellis. It beautifully reflected the foliage, bounced sunlight into darker corners, and instantly made their courtyard feel twice as big!
- Handy Tool Storage: Keep your essentials exactly where you need them. By adding a few simple cup hooks or brackets to the outside of the frame, you can hang your trowels, secateurs, and gardening gloves within arm's reach.
- Built-in Irrigation & Netting Hoops: Forget struggling with loose pipes. Customers have easily attached standard pipe clips along the timber edges to seamlessly run drip-line irrigation. Others have screwed brackets to the outside corners to hold flexible poly-pipe hoops—perfect for throwing over bird netting or shade cloth on hot days.
- Custom Trellises & Climbing Frames: While we sell our own add-on trellises, many gardeners love screwing custom wire mesh, wooden lattice, or tension wire straight into the back of the timber frame to support heavy-climbing veggies like tomatoes, beans, and passionfruit.
- Side Shelves & Pot Stands: A few screws and a small offcut of wood are all it takes to add a mini side-shelf. It’s the perfect spot to rest your coffee cup, phone, or seed packets while you work in the dirt.
- Custom Paint Jobs: From sleek modern charcoal to blend into an architectural patio, to bright, fun colours for the kids' veggie patch, painting or staining the timber is an easy weekend project that perfectly integrates your garden bed into your existing landscape design.
