Roll right up to it. The wheelchair accessible raised garden bed, flat-packed and shipped anywhere in Australia.
Most raised beds make you park side-on and twist. This one is open underneath. There is no skirting on the long sides, just the top board, so your knees go under the bed and you garden facing it, the way you sit at a table.
Can I get my knees under it?
Yes. The 23 cm tub is curved, deepest in the middle and shallow at the edges. Its lowest point sits 680 mm off the ground, and the legs are only at the corners, with 1,320 mm clear between them.
Is it built to the standard?
We built it to the knee-room and leg-width figures in AS 1428.2, the Australian accessibility standard's clause for tables and benches: nothing below 650 mm in the first 200 mm under the front edge, at least 800 mm between the legs, and the back of the tub inside the 550 mm reach the standard allows across a bench top.
Why 90 cm high?
Any lower and your knees will not fit under the tub. Any higher and you are gardening with your arms up. At 90 cm the whole bed is within easy reach from your chair.
Will it suit me?
It suits most people in a manual wheelchair. If your chair has fixed full-length armrests, they may meet the top board before your knees are fully under; swing-away or desk-length arms are fine. If you garden side-on from your chair, or standing up, our 80 cm raised garden bed kit already suits you.
The 23 cm tub holds 110 litres of potting mix. Add braked castors to move it with the sun (it still stands 90 cm high on wheels), or a growing mesh trellis with pot shelf.
It arrives with the end panels built, holes pre-drilled, and every fixing and the tools in the box: a screwdriver-and-spanner job. Made in Queensland from MicroPro H3 treated pine, shipped Australia wide in cartons.

What do I fill it with?
Quality potting mix straight into the tub. No base layers or crushed rock needed. Capacity: 23cm Depth = 110 litres. Full step-by-step: how to fill your raised garden bed.
Can I get my knees under it from a wheelchair?
Yes. The 23 cm tub is curved, so it’s deepest in the middle and shallow at the edges, and its lowest point sits 680 mm off the ground. There’s no skirting on the long sides and the legs are only at the corners, with 1,320 mm clear between them. We built it to the knee-room and leg-width figures in AS 1428.2, the Australian accessibility standard’s clause for tables and benches. Fixed full-length armrests may meet the top board (745 mm); swing-away or desk-length arms are fine.
Can I move it once it’s set up?
Choose “With wheels” above and it rolls on braked castors, one fixed pair and one swivel pair with brakes, and it still stands 90 cm high. Best on hard, flat surfaces like decks, pavers and concrete. Without wheels, empty, it’s an easy two-person lift.
Will my deck or balcony get wet underneath?
The tub has drainage holes in the base, so water drains out underneath. On a deck or balcony, add the Drainage Capture kit: it channels overflow away or straight into a watering can.
Will the timber rot or attract termites?
It’s arsenic-free MCA treated hoop pine, built to resist both. If it’s going on grass or bare ground, we recommend a paver or our protective feet under each leg to break the moisture and termite highway. Full guide: Care & Maintenance.
How often will I need to water?
The 23 cm tub dries out faster in full sun than a deeper tub, so water little and often. The drip watering kit with timer makes it set-and-forget.
How hard is the assembly?
Kits arrive around 80% pre-assembled. Most people are done in about 30 minutes with a power drill, and all fixings and tools are included. Step-by-step Assembly Guides are here, full details in Assembly & Tools below, and we’re happy to talk you through it on the phone any time.
