A compact timber raised garden bed on wheels, 81 cm long and 60 cm wide, with the planting surface at 80 cm. That's waist height, so you plant and pick standing up, and it's sized for a balcony or courtyard.
We build it in our Lawnton workshop and deliver it assembled across South East Queensland, ready to fill.
Why a garden bed on wheels for a balcony?
Balcony space does double duty. When you need the floor back for guests or the clothes horse, release the brakes and roll the bed to the corner, then roll it back near the kitchen door where the herbs are within reach.
How do the wheels move?
On four braked castors: two fixed and two that swivel. They roll best on hard, flat ground like decks, pavers and concrete. Once it's full of potting mix it's heavy, so move it slowly and put the brakes on when it's parked.
What can I grow in it?
Herbs and salad greens suit the 23 cm tub, tomatoes and most veggies the 35 cm, and carrots the 41 cm. The 33 cm slatted option swaps the tub for a flat timber slat base, so your potted plants sit inside it.
The frame is arsenic-free MCA treated hoop pine, with a recycled plastic tub inside to hold the potting mix and keep the timber dry. Don't need wheels? See the compact raised garden bed on legs. Growing climbers? Try the compact raised garden bed with trellis, pot shelf and wheels.

What do I fill it with?
Quality potting mix straight into the tub. No base layers or crushed rock needed. Capacity: 23cm Depth = 55 litres, 35cm Depth = 110 litres, 41cm Depth 135 litres. In our SEQ delivery area we can even deliver it filled and ready to plant: add the Potting Mix Fill service. Full step-by-step: how to fill your raised garden bed.
How deep should your garden bed be?
23 cm is the budget pick, ideal for herbs, flowers, lettuce and other shallow-rooted plants (it dries out quickest, so it likes part shade or regular watering). 35 cm is the sweet spot most customers choose: it handles tomatoes, capsicums and most veggies while holding moisture well. 41 cm suits root veg like carrots and potatoes, plus potted citrus. It holds moisture best and is the heaviest when full.
Can I move it once it’s set up?
Yes. It rolls on heavy-duty outdoor castors (280 kg combined capacity, 400 kg on the 41 cm-deep LARGE): one fixed pair, one 360° swivel pair with brakes. Best on hard, flat surfaces like decks, pavers and concrete.
Will my deck or balcony get wet underneath?
The tub has drainage holes in the base, so water drains out underneath. On a deck or balcony, add the Drainage Capture kit: it channels overflow away or straight into a watering can.
Will the timber rot or attract termites?
It’s arsenic-free MCA treated hoop pine, built to resist both. If it’s going on grass or bare ground, we recommend a paver or our protective feet under each leg to break the moisture and termite highway. Full guide: Care & Maintenance.
How often will I need to water?
Shallower tubs (23 cm) dry out faster in full sun; 35–41 cm hold moisture longer. The drip watering kit with timer makes it set-and-forget.
